The rare Blue Haddon's Carpet Anemone, also known as the Blue Saddle Carpet Anemone or the Blue Saddleback Anemone, is typically found in soft substrates and is capable of growing up to 3 feet wide. Requiring intense lighting and fairly strong current, this vibrant Anemone has an electric blue glow that is hard to miss from near or far. Its tentacles are short and very sticky to the touch, its sting being exceptionally potent relative to other aquarium Anemones. Despite its painful touch to human hands, this Anemone is an excellent host to a wide variety of Clownfish. This Anemone should be kept at least 12 inches away from other Anemones and any corals as it can be both aggressive and damaging. The Haddon's Carpet Anemone has also been known to eat certain fish, so please use caution when housing with fish that are not Clownfish. If no Clownfish are present, the Anemone's diet should be supplemented with items such as chopped shrimp, fish, or worms.
